π Last Community Day: February 2026
π Public Accountability
Every Community Day (once per month), donations are documented publicly. No paywall, full transparency.
You don't need to be a Patreon member to see the receipts. Transparency is not a membership perk β it's a principle.
Three Impact Areas
1. πͺΈ Coral Reef Restoration
Partner: We support Coral Gardeners through regular coral adoptions every single month.
Note: This is support, not an official partnership. Coral Gardeners is an independent organization we contribute to.
Location: Moorea, French Polynesia β a vital coral reef area vulnerable to coral bleaching and ocean acidification.
Method: Monthly coral adoptions with public tracking
2. π¦ Species Conservation
Program: "Adopta un TiburΓ³n" by FundaciΓ³n Malpelo β a Colombian nonprofit that operates in the Malpelo Fauna and Flora Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and marine protected area. The foundation tags sharks with satellite and acoustic telemetry to study migration patterns across the Eastern Tropical Pacific.
Current: 1 Hammerhead Shark symbolically adopted (annual contribution)
What "adoption" means: This is a symbolic sponsorship. The contribution funds fieldwork β specialized equipment, satellite tags, acoustic receivers, and research expeditions. Each tagged shark has multiple sponsors. Unlike our coral adoptions, there is no individual tracking link available for adopted sharks.
Proof: The adoption certificate is issued to Markus Laue (project creator). A copy is available on request.

3. π£ Local Community Support
Platform: Kiva.org β a global nonprofit micro-lending platform where loans are repaid and recycled into new loans, creating ongoing impact from a single contribution.
Current: 1 active loan (since March 2026)
Why this matters: Industrial longline fishing is one of the most destructive fishing practices on the planet. Lines stretching up to 100 kilometers with thousands of baited hooks kill sharks, sea turtles, seabirds, and marine mammals as bycatch β while threatening the livelihoods of small-scale coastal fishers who depend on healthy oceans. By supporting local fishers directly through interest-free microloans, we strengthen the communities that protect these ecosystems every day.
Track it: View Moana's lending activity transparently on Kiva.
Coming soon: An educational campaign on longline fishing β what it is, why it matters, and what you can do about it.
